KUU XBook - Intel J4115 budget laptop with SSD storage for just $250

KUU XBook specifications

KUU laptops have been on the market not so long ago, at the beginning of the summer we wrote to you about the first model, the KUU K2, which also had an excellent value for money. The KUU XBook just released is perhaps an even better offer, especially if we add that it is also available from EU stock.

The KUU XBook has been given a 14.1-inch FullHD IPS display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, which displays excellent, vibrant colors due to the technology. Thanks to the IPS panel, the displayed image is perfectly visible from almost any direction.
The product has extremely small dimensions, 32x22x1.65 centimeters and weighs only 1.18 kilograms.
Intel's quad-core processor, the Intel Celeron J4115, delivers the right performance. The core clock is 1.8 GHz, but for power-intensive tasks you can reach a maximum speed of 2.5 GHz, even for a short time. What is the power of the new Celeron processor enough for? Most desktop applications run comfortably without interruption. A significantly faster processor than previous Celerons (N4000, N4100 or J3455), the Intel HD Graphics 600 graphics accelerator can be used to run even older games. Based on Youtube videos, you can play quite well, for example, Overwatch, World of Warcraft, Dirt 3, CS Go or even Crysis, of course with low graphics settings.
For more serious tasks, such as newer games, video editing, and more hardware-intensive applications, it is better to choose a machine with a more powerful processor, although the price of these is much higher.

In addition to the processor, we find 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB M.2 type SSD, which allows programs to load quickly, making the system run much smoother compared to a laptop with traditional mass storage.


The keyboard, since the machine was sold abroad, has an English QWERTY layout, but this, as we wrote in our previous articles, should not be a big problem when used at home. You can get used to it in a week or two, but for those who don't, you can also get a Hungarian keyboard sticker for a few hundred forints.

Thanks to the low-power hardware components, the laptop's operating time is above average. With the 5000mAh battery, we can use the machine for up to 13 hours based on the information found on the store page. Starting from the most recently tested Chuwi HeroBook Pro model, it is worth lowering this value, so in my opinion we can expect about 6-7 hours of operation under real conditions, which is still very good in this category.

We don’t find too many connection points on the edges of the laptop, but for the average user, that’s plenty too. On the left is the charger, a USB 3.0 and an HDMI port, while on the right we find the 3.5mm jack, another USB 3.0 connection point and the SD card reader.

The KUU XBook includes a full-featured, pre-installed Windows 10 operating system that must be configured on first startup. You can then set the system language, the steps of which were described in more detail in our latest Chuwi HeroBook Pro test.
