It launched Redmi’s latest mobiles, the Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro and Redmi K40 Pro+ high-end mobiles, at a surprisingly low price. Equipped with a 120Hz display and a high-end Snapdragon processor, the 5G models could rewrite the market for high-end phones, although so far only in China.
Many were eagerly awaiting Redmi’s latest models, which were finally released. Under the auspices of Xiaomi, but already operating as a separate brand, Redmi has launched its top models this year: the Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro and Redmi K40+, or on some portals known as Redmi K40 Pro Plus.

Redmi K40 – Redmi K40 Pro – Redmi K40 Pro+ – Differences
All three models are equipped with Snapdragon’s high-end 800 series chip. The Redmi K40 got the Snapdragon 870, while the Pro and Pro+ versions got the most powerful Snapdragon 888 right now.
Other, more important differences can be seen in the camera modules: the K40 Pro+ 108MP, the K40 Pro 64MP, while the base model, the Redmi K40 has a 48MP primary lens.

Redmi K40 – Redmi K40 Pro – Redmi K40 Pro+ – Similarities
But let’s see what common things we can discover in the new Redmi models. I would first mention the high-quality Samsung E4 AMOLED display with a resolution of 120Hz and 1080×2400 pixels, which received DCI-P3 color gamut and HDR10 + support. The 1300nites brightness is also an outstanding feature, it’s no coincidence that overall, the panel has received a DisplayMate A+ rating.
The size of the battery is also the same, all three models received a 4520 mAh power source with a 33W fast charge speed. The USB Type-C charger supports USB Power Delivery 3.0 and Quick Charge 3.0+ technologies. According to official measurement data, the Redmi K40 series mobile phones can be charged from 0% to 100% in just 52 minutes.

Common parameters include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, sub-6 GHz 5G support, Hi-Res Audio support, NFC and the infrared sensor typical of Redmi phones.
The Redmi K40 series models are first launched in China, but are also available from home through foreign stores. According to GSMArena, the European release of the mobiles will arrive in the coming months as POCO F3.
The Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro and Redmi K40 Pro+ can also be pre-ordered from Hungary thanks to the GizTop store:
After the common and different features, let’s look at the K40 models one by one.Redmi K40
The Redmi K40 is the “most modest” of the three models, but if we look at the Snapdragon 870, the turbocharged version of last year’s fastest Qualcomm processor, the Snapdragon 865+, we can’t complain about the speed. The eight-core system chip has a maximum clock speed of 3.2 GHz, and graphics computing is handled by the Adreno 650 GPU.
Not only does the Redmi K40 deliver peak performance at computing speeds, and load times are kept to a minimum thanks to LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage. These hardware features are commendable, and there is no better proof that the Redmi K40 Pro+ mobile has the same parameters.
Of course, we can choose from a wide range of memory and storage combinations, in the cheapest model we find 128 GB of storage in addition to 6 GB of memory, but there is also a variant with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage on the market.

The savings are clearly visible in the camera modules, as it features a not-so-recent 48 MP Sony IMX582 main unit, which we may have seen in the Xiaomi Mi 9T. With a main camera with 1/2 inches, f/1.8 aperture and PD autofocus support, you can record videos at up to 4K/30fps without optical image stabilization. The camera can be a bit disappointing, as the Snapdragon 870 would be able to capture much more, even 8K / 30fps or even 4K/60fps movies.
In addition to the main camera, we have an 8 MP ultra-wide (119°) viewing angle and a 5 MP macro sensor to capture our memories. A 20 megapixel selfie camera was placed on the front panel.
The Redmi K40 (similar to other models) measures 163.7×76.4×7.8 millimeters, weighs just 196 grams, and the 6.67-inch AMOLED display is protected from external damage by Gorilla Glass 5 Glass. Despite the AMOLED display, the fingerprint reader is not placed under the display, but on the side of the housing.

The 4520 mAh battery supports fast charging, but we have to give up wireless charging. The USB Type-C connector is not only for charging, in the absence of the Jack connector, we also have to play music through it. Although in the age of increasingly widespread wireless headphones, this is becoming a painful point.
Redmi K40 Pro
The K40 Pro has already received this year’s top processor from Snapdragon, an eight-core Snapdragon 888 system chip made with 5nm manufacturing technology, with Cortex-X1 processors. The new Qualcomm chip is nearly 35% faster than last year’s top model, the Snapdragon 865, plus it has undergone outstanding advances in artificial intelligence computing (26 TOPS).

The primary camera module here already has a 64-megapixel, 1/1.7 “sensor size, with which we can record videos at as high as 8K / 30fps.
There are also several editions of the Redmi K40 Pro, among which you may notice (6/128, 8/128, 8/256) that the versions with 12 GB of memory are missing.
Redmi K40 Pro+
Undoubtedly the strongest member of this year’s K40 series is the Redmi K40 Pro+, which differs from previous models primarily in the main camera.
The 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor is above average (1/1.52″), thanks to which the K40 Pro+ allows you to take photos with confidence even after dark.

Thanks to 9:1 pixel-binning image processing technology, the final size of the images will be 12 MP, but for those who need high resolution, you can of course use full resolution as well. What can be mentioned as a shortcoming is definitely the lack of a zoom lens.
The front-facing camera can capture 1080p videos, and the rear-panel unit, like the K40 Pro, has a maximum resolution of 8K.
We may also have a double feeling about wireless technologies, as there is no mmWave 5G frequency support, but the Wifi 6E standard is available. The latter was left out of the base, K40 version.
If you choose the Redmi K40 Pro+ mobile phone, you don’t have to think much about which memory/storage pairing to choose, as the top model will only be available with 12 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage.
Pre-orders for the newly released Redmi series models can be placed now, but the first shipments are expected to be shipped from March 4, 2021.
